About the position:
The Assistant Operator Water Reclamation is responsible for collecting, analysing and reporting on process samples and treated water quality from both the Wetalla Wastewater Treatment Facility and the Advanced Water Treatment Facility, and assist in the facility operations and day-to-day running of the plant.
- This is a permanent full-time position, based at the Wetalla Wastewater Treatment Facility (Goombungee Road, Cranley).
- The base wage for this position is $1,203.92 gross per week, plus 17.5% annual leave loading and up to 12.65% superannuation.
- In addition to the base wage rate, you will receive an on-call allowance and access to a commuter-use vehicle when participating in the on-call roster.

About the Water Operations team:
Water Operations forms part of the Water and Waste Services Group (WWSG), which also includes Water Infrastructure Services, Water Project Services and Waste Services. Water Operations is responsible for the operation of Council’s water and wastewater pumping, treatment, and distribution systems to ensure customer service standards and legislative compliance obligations are met.
The team encompasses personnel from various areas of engineering, operations and compliance. Our team believes in fostering a positive work culture based around quality outcomes, effective communication, transparency, professionalism and respect.
How to be successful in this position:
- Hold the mandatory qualification(s), training and/or experience, as outlined under the 'Success Criteria' in the Position Description.
- Well-developed knowledge and skills relating to wastewater plant processes, operations and functions.
- Demonstrated ability to operate and maintain plant / machinery consistent with qualifications held to the principles of best practice and Council standards.
- Demonstrated ability to understand directions and to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Sound numeracy, written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to complete daily works neatly and correctly, including accurate data entry.
- Competency in using Council’s SCADA and Tech One software systems or the ability to rapidly gain the required knowledge of Council systems.
- Demonstrated experience and ability in performing physical labouring tasks.
- Sound knowledge of industry requirements and practices relevant to the treatment of water and wastewater and the ability to understand and follow Council's policies and procedures.
- Understanding of and commitment to Council’s Organisational Value and Behaviour of Teamwork.
