Sydney Grammar School is an independent non-denominational day School for boys. The secondary School (7-12) is located on College Street in the city of Sydney and the two preparatory Schools are located at Edgecliff (K-Year 6) and St Ives (Preschool-Year 6).
Sydney Grammar School is currently seeking to employ a suitably qualified and motivated Learning Support Assistant to our St Ives campus. We offer many benefits to our staff including paying substantially above other Independent Schools.
About the Role
The School Learning Support Assistant will provide support for students with identified diverse learning needs in classrooms and other learning environments under the direction and supervision of a teacher to support the achievement of educational outcomes.
The primary responsibility of the Learning Support Assistant, under the guidance of the Director of Studies and the relevant Form Master/s, is to work closely and cooperatively with teaching staff to provide support for student learning in classroom, small groups, and one-to-one settings. Work will be predominantly with students who require additional Learning Support, though it may also include strategies to support social, emotional, and behavioural outcomes.
This position is a permanent part-time, term time only role.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Undertake a wide variety of tasks associated with classroom learning experiences (e.g. assisting teachers in the preparation, implementation, and supervision of students through the delivery of learning programs).
- Assist student learning under the direction of a teacher and supporting documentation such as Adjustment Plans (APs).
- Assist in the design and implementation of practical activities under the supervision of a teacher.
- Apply personal knowledge and initiative to suggest modifications to educational programs to meet the learning needs of specific students, subject to the approval of the applicable teacher.
- Assist in implementing strategies and interventions to address the unique needs of students who demonstrate social, emotional, and behavioural challenges or differences.
- Confer with teachers for all matters relating to students under their care.
- Attend and participate in school excursions and co-curricular activities as required.
- Attend and participate in professional learning sessions as required.
- Individual student and small group support.
- Work with students 1:1 in an independent environment.
- Supervise students with identified learning requirements.

- The role would suit a new teaching graduate who is eager to gain experience in the classroom or a more experienced teacher who loves children but wishes not to have the programming and administration work associated with teaching.
