Jonah's Restaurant and Boutique Hotel The Assistant Restaurant Manager will be responsible for assisting the Restaurant in the day-to-day, smooth and efficient management of the award winning Jonah's Restaurant including associated staff and facilities to ensure maximum revenues and standards are achieved whilst offering outstanding customer service and exceeding the customer's expectations. Benefits A creative, challenging and rewarding working environment that will encourage and allow you and your career to grow The opportunity to work in a growing, prestigious, award-winning establishment and put your career in the right direction 4 day work week / 3 days off per week Staff meals included during shifts Task & Responsibilities Main duties are: Food & Beverage Operations, including assisting with the selection, purchasing, cellar and service of wines Achieve predetermined key result ratios Wine promotion and sales, such as wine-tasting sessions or events Train and educate the wait staff about the wine list Maintain wine-serving equipment Enter the list in appropriate local, national and international wine list competitions Effectively manage the Restaurant in the absence of the Restaurant Manager Restaurant setting according to daily requirements, procedures and guidelines Manage and supervise the quality, presentation and service of food and beverage to ensure standards are met or exceeded during your shift Promote the property's facilities to potential clients in particular the Restaurant and Function facilities Assist in the development and implementation of company policies and procedures Monitor staffing levels and manage rosters efficiently in accordance with the Hospitality Industry General Award Supervision, training and coordination of food and beverage staff during your shift On the job training of food and beverage staff in restaurant procedures, policies, checklists and guidelines In conjunction with the Restaurant Manager, provide direction to food and beverage staff to ensure departmental goals are achieved and provide coaching and feedback to staff and assess performance on an ongoing basis Assist the Restaurant Manager to monitor departmental costs and budgets Communicate with the Restaurant Manager or General Manager regarding any problems or changes needed with service Maintain hygienic food handling practices and ensure the cleanliness of all Restaurant facilities and equipment at all times Balance the register at the end of the shift ensuring a high level of accuracy and honesty Ordering and stock control of Restaurant disposables Qualification & Experience Trade Qualifications Practical, demonstrated experience as an Assistant Restaurant Manager. Experience in a fine dining or luxury environment is preferred.
