Lynward Park Stud is a boutique sized thoroughbred stud located 40km north-east of Perth. We breed high end athletes and take great pride in producing sound, well trained horses, that excel at life. Lynward Park races many of its fillies/mares and offers it's colts for sale. We treat all of our horses with the highest standard of care, and are looking to find someone who is likeminded to join the team.
Qualifications & experience
- Minimum Level 3 in an Equine course or equivalent knowledge.
- Minimum 2 years experience on a commercial Stud Farm
- Excellent communication skills and team building ethos.
- Manual drivers licence is required Experience floating horses is desirable
- Foaling experience highly desirable
- Vet nursing experience highly desirable
- Previous Sales experience highly desirable
- Candidate must be passionate and knowledgeable about caring for horses.
Tasks & responsibilities
- Foaling, including pre- and post-natal care of broodmares and foals.
- Practicing high levels of horse husbandry and supervision of horses
- Early education of foals
- Managing broodmares and training young stock
- Assisting Veterinarians with ultrasound/reproduction examination, including assisting in birthing foals and administering medical treatment to foals
- Preparing horses for sales. Teaching horses to walk, stand and parade correctly Parade and caring for horses at sales
- Educating horses to be groomed and accept bridle, head collar, rug etc.
- Stallion Handling or Mare Handling for live cover.
