The APS 5 Assistant Team Leader supports the Team Leader in the leadership and management of staff within their designated office and delivering a public facing service as required. The Assistant Team Leader may also likely undertake the legislative responsibilities of the Divisional Returning Officer for a federal electoral division and will work to ensure that division delivers an election result with transparency and integrity.

The key duties of the position include
As an Assistant Team Leader, you will be responsible for planning and delivering major logistical events, setting expectations for the broader team, and preparing complex correspondence, reports and reviews.
This role's primary functions include managing and supporting all aspects of large-scale projects, managing a small team, which expands in size considerably during an event, and collaborating and communicating with key stakeholders.
During a federal event, you will act as an APS6 Divisional Returning Officer for one of Victoria's 39 electoral divisions. In this role, the Divisional Returning Officer's primary responsibility is to deliver the election in their prescribed electorate.
