Job description

The strategic plan of the Federal Department emphasises our purpose, to invest for the benefit of future generations of Australians. This is our single purpose; everything we do is aligned with that goal, and we avoid being distracted into any activity that might take us in a different direction.

Working as an Associate in the Credit team, your role is to provide analytical and operational support to the Credit team in the development, implementation, monitoring, reporting and ongoing management of the Agency's Credit investment program. The role includes aspects of external relationship management, market research and investment manager due diligence. The Associate will play a role in shaping the overall strategy and guidelines of the total portfolio by focusing on the development of the Credit portfolio.

Estimated Start Date: As soon as possible

Role Type: Permanent

Location: Melbourne

Working Arrangement: Hybrid - Work From Home 2 days per week

Security Clearance: Must be Australian Citizen - No clearance required at this level

The Associate, Credit will be part of the Credit team within the Assets team. The Assets team at Federal Department includes dedicated investment teams devoted to sectors including Listed Equities, Credit, Alternatives, Private Equity, Unlisted Infrastructure & Timberland, Property, and Listed Tangibles.

The Credit team is responsible for managing a range of fixed income and credit-focused mandates across each of the funds managed by the Agency. These include liquid and illiquid investments across a broad spectrum of collateral types and risk profiles on a global basis. Strategy formulation, sector and manager selection and monitoring, and portfolio and risk management are key elements of the team's role, along with contribution to total portfolio management. We predominantly invest via external managers, so our security-level investing is generally limited to co-investments.
