Under the guidance of our Pro Vice-Chancellor (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Strategy), this position offers a unique opportunity to assume leadership of the Buranga Centre, driving initiatives aligned with the Indigenous Student Success Program Guidelines and our strategic vision. Your primary focus will be on delivering exceptional services to Indigenous students, fostering a nurturing environment that champions their success, and leading initiatives focused on engagement and enhancing retention rates. As the Associate Director, you will possess influence across all campuses, operating with autonomy to review and develop high-level documentation, provide expert advice, and make decisions that directly impact the student experience and retention outcomes for Indigenous UniSC students.Opportunities and CollaborationsThis role presents opportunities that call for innovative problem-solving and strategic thinking. You will lead initiatives, drive change, and navigate complexities to ensure positive outcomes for Indigenous student experiences and community engagement. Additionally, you will forge collaborative relationships, working closely with the PVC (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Strategy), Deans of Schools, and stakeholders across the university to shape Indigenous student services, contribute expertise to various committees, and represent UniSC at conferences and government forums focused on Indigenous student engagement services.   • Provide strategic leadership to the Buranga Centre, and develop and sustaining relationships with Indigenous communities, organisations, and governments to support strategic objectives.
  • Prioritise adherence to policies concerning equal opportunity, risk management, workplace safety, and quality assurance.
  • Oversee the allocation and management of resources, in accordance with strategic goals and legislative mandates, aligned to university standards and ISSP guidelines.
  • Lead the development and implementation of programs aimed at enhancing Indigenous student outreach, enrolment, retention, and success.

To perform this role, it is essential that the incumbent be an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person.
