Associate Director, Energy Deals (Sydney)
The energy transition is complex, calling for a multi-disciplinary approach and new ways of thinking. Our Energy Deals team within our Commercial Advisory and Transactions group advises clients on the energy and climate transition through providing commercial, financial, transaction and strategic advice to clients.
Our team is embedded within the Infrastructure, Asset & Places group and is differentiated by our experience across all aspects of the energy infrastructure life cycle and connected with KPMG's wider specialised service offering for the energy sector.
Your Opportunity - Associate Director
Forming part of the Energy Deals team the Associate Director role will play a key role in building our Energy opportunities in the market and helping shape and lead our amazing team by:
- Bringing your energy industry experiences to support building the team and our opportunities across energy sector transactions and major projects.
- Simplifying and shaping complex client and market situations into straightforward strategies.
- Providing strategic, commercial, analytical, and financial advice that is industry leading for our Energy clients.
- You wish to be part of significant deals and opportunities that solve for net zero emissions.
- You have proven experiences commercially and financially to support the investment or commercial decisions of clients.
- You are passionate in supporting clients with developing and implementing energy infrastructure.
- You are highly analytical and enjoy problem solving with innovation.
- You bring a strong understanding of new and emerging value propositions in the energy sector (such as transmission, wind, hydrogen, solar & storage).

- Coordinating due diligence processes and engaging with experts across renewables, transmission, and energy retail.
- Solving complex problems involving financial models.
- Supporting contract formation and negotiation.
- Preparing briefing documentation for tenders, submissions, and investor memorandums, running financial models, supporting transaction strategy and analysis.
- The ability to prepare client deliverables, including reports and presentations, financial analysis.
- A constant interest in supporting Australia's energy transition to accelerate and enhance Australian and international progress toward net zero.
- Experience or interest in energy major projects, transactions, energy procurements, or energy infrastructure.
- Recent professional experience in management consultancy, engineering consultancy, corporate advisory, accounting or law firms, investment banking, project finance teams, infrastructure funds, construction firms or within commercial or infrastructure teams in operational businesses.
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Commerce, Economics, Law, or other relevant subjects.
