We are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our Risk Management team as the Associate Director, Risk Strategy and Operations. This position is focused on the development and implementation of strategic and operational initiatives related to the enterprise risk management, project risk management, and organisational resilience functions of the University.
It plays a crucial role in providing senior advice, project management, and executive administration leadership for the risk management team, and to senior leadership and other stakeholders across the organisation.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- lead the risk management team in continuously improving and implementing the Risk Management Strategy, risk management related initiatives and risk management services
- build and maintain effective working relationships and strong rapport with key stakeholders to proactively influence compliance to Risk Management and Organisational resilience Frameworks and build University risk culture maturity
- continuously improve, implement and manage risk exposure measurement and monitoring
- continuously improve, implement, and analyse risk insights arising from the amalgamation of the risk management team’s work.
- lead and manage the drafting of risk management reports to University Executive and Senate
- drive and track portfolio efficiencies
- identify and deliver specific Risk Management Projects
- provide strategic advice to the Chief Risk Officer and other team members on risk related insights.
- extensive experience in managing and delivering a program of work in risk management or related field.
- excellent business acumen and strategic thinking skills together with effective leadership and people management skills
- proven experience in leading teams to continuously improve team strategy, delivery and influence culture across an organisation.
- proven experience in data analysis, program tracking and reporting.
- strong knowledge of the field of risk management services and organisational resilience including planning and design of risk plans/processes that support organisational effectiveness
- effective management of a diverse group of key stakeholders on large or complex projects and the ability to develop/cultivate productive relationships with industry providers
- ideally Postgraduate qualifications with extensive relevant experience in management and business administration or relevant technical domain, and/or equivalent combination of relevant training and experience

Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the reasons for the position.
