The Maternity Unit, Launceston General Hospital:

  • The Launceston General Hospital (LGH) is the major referral hospital in Northern Tasmania.
  • As a Registered Midwife you will be part of the team that delivers approximately 1,600 new born babies each year. With a 6 bed Labour Ward, 30 bed Maternity Unit and 9 bed Special Care Unit your work will be fast paced and very rewarding.
  • You will have the opportunity to work in various models of midwifery care including ante-natal, birth and post-natal including community based post-natal care, Midwifery Group Practice and Team midwifery.

The Role:

The Associate Midwifery Unit Manager (AMUM) is an experienced midwife who, within the defined area of practice:

  • Works in partnership with the Midwifery Unit Manager (MUM) and other senior staff, to ensure the efficient and effective provision of care based on best practice principles within a collaborative and multidisciplinary framework.
  • Assists the NUM with the planning and management of staff and resources and provides operational leadership through the coordination of the day to day patient care activities, including patient flow.

Details of Appointments:

Multiple Permanent full time and part time shift-worker positions working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as you can to join this amazing department

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant

  • Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.

Salary: $103,466 - $109,165 per annum + 11% superannuation + access to salary packaging

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Graduate Certificate; BN Clinical Honours (Transition to Practice); Hospital Certificate; Double Degree (Entry level) 4%
  • Graduate Diploma/BN Professional Honours/Degree 6.5%
  • Masters or Doctorate 7.5%
  • Relocation Allowances 
  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

  1. Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Midwife

  2. Current Working with Children Registration

*Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.

  1. Holds or is working towards relevant post graduate qualifications
