Overview
In this pivotal management position, you will provide support to the Nurse Unit Manager in the leadership of nurses within the General and Emergency Services at Tanunda War Memorial Hospital. Promoting continuity and consistency of care, you will contribute to the implementation of practice changes and undertake service management responsibilities at the discretion of the Nurse Unit Manager. These will include recruitment, staffing, leave management, rostering, work allocation and attendance management; financial and supplies planning and monitoring. Utilising your nursing skills and knowledge, you will support and work collaboratively with less experienced members of the nursing team.
Tanunda War Memorial Hospital provides acute services to in-hospital care for adults and children by local general practitioners. In addition to Accident & Emergency Services, we provide general medical care including inpatients, outpatients and same day stays. Tanunda Hospital also provides maintenance care to long stay patients requiring a restorative focus and additional support to transition to home.
You will need to be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and hold or be eligible to hold a current practicing certificate. This will be supported by your experience in acute general medical and emergency nursing. Demonstrating a proven track record in management and leadership roles, you will be capable of giving supervision to student nurses, Enrolled Nurses and less experienced Registered Nurses. You will use your effective communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills to maintain a cohesive multidisciplinary team and resolve local or immediate nursing care problems.
