Western Private Hospital (WPH), is a boutique private hospital located in Footscray servicing the West of Melbourne with the provision of acute services which has 62 inpatient beds.
We are fully equipped for a comprehensive range of surgical procedures including general, bariatric, oral max, colorectal, endoscopy, gastroenterology, ophthalmology, orthopaedic, gynaecology, plastics, vascular and urology, as well as diagnostic and interventional cardiology and high dependency services.
The Marion Ward is 26 beds and principally provides care for all overnight patients, elective cardiac, medical and elective surgical. The unit also provides high dependency beds and services when required. This variety creates an excellent opportunity for our team to be dynamic, flexible and customer focused in addressing the unique needs of our patients.
About the Role
Western Private Hospital has an opportunity for a passionate and suitably experienced individual to join the team as ANUM on a part-time maximum term contract basis, for a long service leave cover position, from 13 May 2024 until 30 March 2025.
The position will rotate onto all shifts, AM, PM & ND. The ANUM role is a vital nursing leadership function that involves working closely with the Nurse Unit Manager, providing exceptional patient care, undertaking mentoring and coaching by providing advice, clinical guidance, training & support to staff, supervision of staff, bed coordination, liaison between disciplines and departments and leading portfolio and project work to improve the patient experience.
Selection Criteria
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse, Division 1
- At least 3 years’ experience working in Coronary Care, Cardiology, HDU, Cardiothoracics or critical care
- Postgraduate Certificate in Critical Care
- Prior ANUM experience, understanding of managing a shift and ward, including when out of hours
- Experience in clinical coordination, patient flow, bed and staff management preferred but not essential
- Advanced clinical knowledge, skills and practice
- Act as positive model and leader in the unit, facilitating individual and team growth and development
- Proven ability to lead portfolio work and engage staff effectively
- Demonstrates the ability to communicate positively and to actively encourage a positive team culture and environment for patients and their families
- Must be able to work collaboratively, as well as independently, and respectfully in a small team
- Ability to think critically and decisively is imperative to the position
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritise conflicting demands and manage time efficiently
- Excellent working knowledge of patient management systems
