Campbell Primary School (PS) is seeking a dynamic, highly motivated, and dedicated leader for the Associate Principal position. The successful applicant will possess highly-developed emotional intelligence and possess highly effective leadership skills to support school improvement.

We are seeking an Associate Principal with highly developed Curriculum knowledge, and current research and evidence-based practice to lead staff in the contemporary teaching of Literacy, Numeracy and Information Computer Technology. Ideally, you will also have some coaching experience to foster professional growth in others and cultivate successful outcomes-focused teams that use evidence and data to inform their decision-making.

The successful applicant will ideally have a clear understanding of the conditions and learning environments required to prepare students for success. They would be a high performer with successful leadership and management experience. Ideally, you will exhibit the capability and commitment required to continue to develop and sustain conditions for whole school improvement, develop leadership capacity in others and support the growth of instructional leadership across the school.

Applicants will ideally have well-developed case management skills to monitor student progress and enhance student engagement and wellbeing. They will ideally have proven ability to partner with families, organisations, and services to provide or broker support for students and families.

You will ideally lead and work collaboratively with staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality curriculum, effective quality teaching, professional learning, leadership development, effective use of resources and positive promotion of Campbell PS within our school community and beyond. The successful applicant will promote and support a positive school culture with staff, students and the wider community.

To be successful, you should be able to exhibit a high level of innovative leadership and the capacity to lead whole school approaches to pastoral care and workforce well-being; and leadership in Financial, Human and Physical resource management to improve student learning outcomes.

The position requires an exceptional leader who will take carriage of enacting the vision of the school. In conjunction with the Principal, the Associate Principal will need to apply their professional knowledge and understanding to promote teaching and learning within the school community and to assist setting the strategic direction for staff.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:

  • Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
  • High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
  • Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
  • Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.

Eligibility and training requirements

Employees will be required to:

  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
