Base Salary $174,618 - $192,371 + 17% superannuation (some support for relocation may be provided)
About the opportunity
The University of Sydney, Faculty of Medicine and Health, is seeking to appoint an Associate Professor (Research Lead) for the Broken Hill University Department of Rural Health (UDRH).
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced researcher with national or international expertise in the areas of rural and remote health care, First Nations health, health workforce development and health service design.
The position will be based in Broken Hill, far west NSW, providing Research Leadership for both the Far West Local Health District (FWLHD) and the Broken Hill University Department of Rural Health through a collaborative research partnership, ensuring the research governance requirements of both organisations are met and establishment and advancement of an integrated far west NSW research committee with representation from both organisations.
The successful applicant will have carriage of leading the implementation of a collaborative research framework, working across both organisations on discrete and shared areas of research priority and interest, contributing to the research priorities of the FWLHD, NSW Health, the Faculty of Medicine and Health's Rural Health Strategy and Rural Health Precinct. The position will have a key role in supporting the establishment of a cross-sector First Nations Research Network in collaboration with the Poche Centre for Indigenous Health Research (University of Sydney),
The position will also provide Research Leadership for UDRH staff who are geographically distributed across far west, north and south west regions of NSW. Travel to rural and remote communities located within the FWLHD and UDRH catchment will be required.
About you
PHD in relevant Health discipline or research related field including Rural Health or First Nations Health
national or international reputation in their discipline or area of expertise, with a supporting research profile including competitive research grants, publications and evidence of recognition within the broader research community
wide network of established relationships with key academic, industry and professional institutions, partners and stakeholders that can be leveraged to enhance the standing of the discipline, school, faculty and University
experience in people leadership within the higher education sector, including demonstrated success in supervising and/or mentoring others towards success
understanding of and ability to lead and support an academic endeavour and producing leading research and providing a student enabling environment
an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the key strategic issues in the higher education sector
Proven experience in qualitative and quantitative research
Track record of successful brand applications
Currently living or ability to relocate to the Broken Hill area
Have leadership in writing grants and accessing research grant funding and enhancing research capacity enhancing endeavours
Current drivers licence
