  • Work closely and directly with partners from day one
  • Day-to-day opportunities for hands-on involvement with clients, with continuous support and mentoring from senior members of the team
  • Funded CTA qualification and paid study leave to foster learning
  • Regular tax training through internal and external training platforms
  • Potential future secondments to interstate and overseas offices

Key responsibilities

This role involves a mixture of Corporate Tax compliance and advisory work, including (but not limited to):

  • Research and assistance with tax consulting advice (such as tax consolidation, tax treaties, hybrid mismatches, Controlled Foreign Companies, withholding taxes, thin capitalisation, permanent establishments, AMITs etc.)
  • Research and assistance with preparing advice and calculations in connection with international tax issues
  • Assist clients with M&A activities, including tax structuring and tax due diligence services
  • Assist clients with ATO reviews, governance matters and audits, as well as liaising with the ATO to obtain rulings for clients
  • Research and analysis of technical tax issues and preparation of tax reports
  • Preparation of company and trust tax returns, including consolidated company tax returns, for a wide range of large corporate clients
  • Preparation and review of tax-effect accounting calculations
  • Assistance with business development initiatives and proposals, including preparing for and attending meetings with clients

Skills and experience

Required

  • Tertiary and / or professional qualification(s) in a relevant discipline, or other relevant professional or overseas qualification(s)
  • Previous exposure to working with large Corporate Tax clients in a commercial or professional services environment
  • Analytical skills and an inquisitive mindset, with a desire to deeply understand clients’ businesses, challenges and confidence in applying knowledge to routine matters
  • Demonstrable strong work ethic and commitment to excellent client service

Desirable

  • Professional accreditation(s) such as CA, CPA, CTA or equivalent overseas certification(s)
