The Opportunity
This position will create the organic social media strategy and implement the athlete marketing initiatives for ON across Australia and New Zealand to drive reach of our comms and ultimately create content that engages a wider audience. Given sponsored athletes and teams are key sources of such content, the Talent and Athlete Manager must coordinate a plan to most effectively and efficiently utilize this important marketing asset, including working with wider marketing team to create world class content that drives engagement through our comms channels. Your daily routines will include building and enhancing our relationships with agencies, agents and direct contact with athletes / brands to expand our roster and integrate the use of the product with key sports to grow usage.
Responsibilities:
- In consultation with the Marketing Manager, lead and set the Athlete and talent strategy for Oceania: mapping market & sporting landscape, identifying sports & partnerships to drive brand awareness, recruiting & negotiating contracts with key athletes / influencers to grow brand reach
- In consultation with the Digital Marketing manager, lead and set the athlete social strategy for Oceania.
- Work with wider brand marketing team to define and deliver a full content plan (monthly/and annually) amplifying the athlete roster to deliver a media calendar to drive brand awareness and usage.
- Create activity plans for each athlete & partnership linking up with wider brand team to deliver a content strategy that stretches across both social & media channels delivering earned media value
- Work closely with Global team to align on key strategies, build collaborative programs that can be activated across market and share learnings to establish Oceania as lead global market
- Ongoing management of core brand athlete program to create network of engaged individuals with the right fit for key brands
- Full management of sports agencies, agents and contract negotiations end to end to drive credibility of brands in key sports, delivering contracts OTIF
- Build strong relationships with athlete roster to engage them in brand and ensure they are brand advocates on both professional and personal level. Includes product distribution needs.
- Manage apparel partnership (DYE) and distribution of apparel to Athlete and talent
- Post Impression #’s
- Engagement (Shares, Likes, Comments etc.)
- Sale generated / Retail Traffic (in collaboration with Key customers)
- Manage the tracking and reporting on such metrics on a monthly basis to Senior Management. Current platform is Kitly
- Develop insights from data capture and online sources and provide recommendations to senior management to influence future digital/social direction as well as additional areas within the marketing mix. Key Periods: April during Planning, Sep ABP and Oct for forecasting.
- Establish key marketing ROI metrics for Oceania’s Athlete and Talent roster to establish effectiveness of programmes. Examples include;
- Analyse, review, and report on effectiveness of campaigns in an effort to maximize results (example: AGT/Plant).
- Lead and report on events that facilitate;
- Content of sponsored athletes, teams and events to be utilised as social media content
- Athlete briefing to ensure on-brand content
- Monthly updating and reporting on Athlete/Talent budget to ensure budget adherence
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Be an outstanding and highly skilled/experienced sports athlete practitioner with 5yrs minimum experience covering all aspects of Athlete and influencers management
- Proven track record of mapping, identifying, negotiating contracts and recruiting new sports talent to brands
- Displays in-depth knowledge and understanding of Social Media platforms, their respective participants (Facebook, Twitter, Google+Local, YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest etc.) and how each platform can be deployed in different scenarios.
- Exceeds at building and maintaining sales relationships, online and off.
- Is a Team player with the confidence to take the lead and guide other employees when necessary. (ie: content development, creation and editing of content, and online reputation management).
- Passion for fitness and nutrition essential & an understanding of the dedicated sports lifestyle and a strong passion for building nutritional products that support this sector
