About the Role
Tall Order Electrical is an electrical, automation and maintenance services business and we are currently seeking a talented Automation Engineer to join our System Integrator (SI) team and take an influential role within our rapidly expanding business delivering electrical services and solutions across various industrial environments.
You will have ownership of the pre-engineering, programming and delivery of electrical systems to meet the requirements of Tall Order Electrical clients. In the role as Automation Engineer, you will serve as a subject matter expert in the electrical engineering and maintenance of LV electrical systems, process control automation & control systems and compliance to safety codes, design standards and regulations most prominently AS3000, AS3008, AS4024 and AS61439.
As the Automation Engineer you will aid with all aspects of project delivery including conceptual design, project timeline estimating, programming machinery from functional descriptions, code to standards and site implementation. You will also lead and participate in fault diagnosis, root cause analysis, troubleshooting and process improvement of our clients existing equipment and technologies. Our ideal candidate will possess comprehensive proficiency in Rockwell and Siemens software packages for PLC, HMI, and drive systems.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Contribution to the design and development of industrial automation projects from concept through to commissioning.
- Act as the SME for clients to understand their requirements and communicate technical solutions.
- Participate in the conceptualisation, architecture design, and selection of appropriate hardware and software components including project estimates and cost analysis.
- Utilise expertise to program, configure, and integrate control systems
- Use of programming and automation software suites (e.g. Rockwell / Siemens / Schneider).
- Lead factory acceptance testing (FAT) and collaborate with client teams during on-site commissioning.
- Applying electrical standards and codes to ensure compliance with AS/NZS requirements.
- Prepare and review engineering documentation, including test reports, drawings and system specifications to ensure that engineering projects are completed to the highest standards.
- Active contribution to the wider business functions including mentoring trades and team members to enhance development and knowledge within the team.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver high quality work, work autonomously when required and show strong attention to detail.
- Maintain successful customer relationships by delivering exceptional service and support.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Electronics or Mechatronics Engineering (Computer Science will be accepted)
- You will have 3 - 5+ years’ experience in the design, configuration, testing and commissioning of PLC based control systems.
- You will have knowledge and practical experience in low voltage power distribution design, variable speed drives and motor controls
- Proficiency in industry related software packages such as Rockwell Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View, Siemens TIA Portal etc...
- Experience with EPLAN or AutoCAD is also an advantage.
- You will be experienced in troubleshooting electrical systems. It is expected that you are able to read electrical drawings.
- You will have demonstrated experience working with customers to conceptualise and develop electrical solutions.
- Working understanding of Australian Standards; AS3000, AS3008, AS4024 and AS61439
- Experience working on Safety related design and commissioning projects (e.g., Pilz / GuardLogix / Sick) is highly regarded
