Job description
Molycop is the sole manufacturer of railway wheels in Australia and is committed to maintaining the highest quality and productivity levels for our railway wheels. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a skilled CNC Operator to join our team and contribute to the ongoing success of our Rail Products division.
The CNC Operator will play a critical role in ensuring the manufacturing processes for railway wheels continue to meet the highest quality and productivity standards. The CNC Operator will operate CNC machines and perform various manual machine operations.
About the role
Key responsibilities for this role include:
Operate large machinery to produce train wheels and axles.
Work closely with the Team Leader to maintain production schedules through effective machining functioning.
Read and interpret engineering drawings and dimensional tolerances.
Perform machine setup, including tooling, fixturing, and part setting for scheduled jobs, meeting production requirements.
Operate large lathes, vertical borers, and drills.
Access supply and maintenance management computer systems to locate spares, work order information, and drawings in support of maintenance activities.
Perform tasks related to the operation of pendant-controlled cranes, including slinging loads.
Maintain tools and equipment, monitor equipment and machine conditions, and diagnose/report faults.
Collaborate with Engineers and other production employees to resolve machining challenges.
Perform regular machine maintenance and general cleaning duties required during operating and equipment repairs.
Undertake other tasks as directed by leaders to ensure the safe and efficient operation of Rail Products.
About you
The successful candidate will possess the following:
Experience operating CNCs, lathes or other manual machines
Strong mechanical aptitude
Computer literacy
High attention to detail
Ability to meet deadlines
Also advantageous is:
Forklift Licence
Experience in a manufacturing environment

Capable CNC Operators will have the opportunity to obtain a Cert II qualification through a registered external provider.
Pathways may be available for progression to a Cert III trade qualification.
