Work Location: Eliwana

  • Fortescue's Eliwana mine is located on the traditional lands of the Puutu Kunti Kurrama & Pinikura (PKKP) People.

Roster:

8D/6R - FIFO ex Perth

Reporting to the Site based supervisor, this Technician installs and maintains Automation products at a site level using an understanding of mobile autonomy and is proficient in supporting the entire Automation product portfolio. This position fulfils a technical role on an 8:6 roster within the Mobile Automation crew, providing site-based support to the Project team. The Automation Technician will provide day to day technical assistance, Repair infield breakdowns, routine servicing assist with documentation and provide advice for best maintenance practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Delivering a safe working environment and the safe execution of all installation, maintenance, and support activities.
  • Efficiently communicate work scope to leadership and colleagues during handovers
  • Represent Fortescue integrated technology values by upholding the standard of work, equipment care and personal work ethics
  • Install and maintain Automation products at a site level, ensuring proper functioning and reliability.
  • Utilise understanding of mobile autonomy to effectively carry out installation and maintenance tasks.
  • Be proficient in supporting the entire Automation product portfolio, including troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • Provide site-based support to the Project team, assisting with technical issues and ensuring smooth operations.
  • Offer day-to-day technical assistance to colleagues and project stakeholders as needed.
  • Respond to infield breakdowns promptly and efficiently, diagnosing and repairing issues to minimise downtime.
  • Conduct routine servicing of Automation products, adhering to maintenance schedules and protocols.
  • Assist with documentation related to installations, maintenance activities, and repairs, ensuring accurate records are maintained.
  • Provide advice and recommendations for best maintenance practices, optimizing the performance and longevity of Automation products.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum 4 years working in an Automotive Electrician, Mechanical fitter, communications or similar heavy mobile equipment role.
  • 3 years' experience with fleet management, autonomous control systems or similar, within a mining technology site support role highly desirable
  • Minimum trade qualification in mechanical, electrical or network disciplines.
  • Technology courses at a certificate III, Diploma or similar highly beneficial.
  • Knowledge of Global Positioning Technology, WIFI/LTE Networking Principles, CAN and Serial systems
  • Able to apply root cause analysis and drive continuous improvement to increase the reliability of technology products on all HME.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the regulations and procedures governing Fortescue's autonomous operations and maintenance activities
  • In-depth understanding of installing, calibrating, and commissioning AHS, ADS or similar technologies.
  • Able to diagnose and fault find logically, using a range of tools and resources available.
  • Able to diagnose complex faults and articulate the problem/solution succinctly for all level of audiences.
  • Ability to undertake all tasks with the correct level of risk assessment to complete the task safely.
  • High attention to detail
  • Able to use SAP, BMS and other Fortescue systems efficiently.
  • Critique own performance as a means of self-improvement.

  • Work with other stakeholders to strengthen their ability to perform maintenance and support where possible.
