Take on big challenges and grow, through mentorship, collaboration and empowerment.Thiess is the place to make things happen.About The RoleAs the Principal of Autonomous Operations at Thiess, you will play a pivotal role in building our internal autonomous mining capabilities and driving the success of Thiess' autonomous mining initiatives. This position will require a focus on operational discipline, achieved through effective change management and project management practices.In this dynamic role, you will:

  • Drive the delivery of work tasks to achieve team and business goals, support team members, coordinate efforts across teams and stakeholders, champion change initiatives, and foster a culture that aligns with Thiess' Group Principles.
  • Manage project and overhead costs, seek cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or sustainability, demonstrate sound commercial acumen, and ensure compliance with company Levels of Authority for expenditure.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, inspire trust and passion, communicate effectively to influence stakeholders, and keep team members and stakeholders informed of work activities and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to mobilise resources for autonomy projects, manage OEMs, dealers, and communication network suppliers, lead the development of autonomy governance and training systems, and document activities for scalability and transferability.
  • Support project teams in realising business case targets, integrate autonomy into daily production activities, implement continuous improvement programs, manage support from OEMs and dealers, and engage functional teams to support project delivery.
About YouWe are seeking a highly qualified and experienced individual to join our team in a key engineering role. The ideal candidate will possess an Engineering degree or equivalent qualifications/experience and have at least 5 years of relevant experience in the field. Specifically, experience in Autonomous Haulage, particularly Command for Haulage, is highly desirable.The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical skills, including leadership capability, project delivery and implementation experience in autonomous haulage, systems thinking ability, and familiarity with autonomous system technologies.
