An exciting and rewarding opportunity is available for a suitably qualified midwife to join the Midwifery team at Portland District Health.
As a Graduate Midwife, you are a vital member of the multidisciplinary health care team. One who uses contemporary standards and evidence to underpin practice and strives to deliver excellent care to patients and their families. You understand the importance of providing person centred care which focuses on the best possible outcomes for your patients. Your interactions with patients, relatives and colleagues are guided by the organisation’s policy framework and values of trust and respect in an environment which continuously identifies opportunities for improving the quality of patient care.
The Graduate Midwife program is a 12-month program that allow the Midwife to transition from student of Bachelor of Midwifery in a supportive, structured environment. You will gain experience in the following areas:
- Labour and Birth
- Antenatal planned / unplanned presentations and assessments
- Postnatal
- Domiciliary care
The Graduate midwife will participate in Team Care and gain experience in the provision of care for women during pregnancy, labour and birth and the postnatal period. As a midwife, you’re there at every stage of pregnancy, birth and the early post-natal period. While the role carries a huge responsibility, it’s immensely rewarding. On-the-job experience within a supportive environment will help you succeed in your career.
About you:
- Registration as a Registered Midwife with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Ongoing registration with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia including maintenance of Professional Portfolio
