• Indo Pacific International Maritime Exposition (Location: Sydney NSW)
• Land Forces International Land Defence Exposition (Location: Melbourne VIC)
• Indian Ocean Defence and Security Conference (Location: Perth WA)

About the role:

We are seeking an enthusiastic Aviation Operations Manager to join our high-functioning Aviation team. This role is responsible for Managing Aviation Operations and Support for the Australian International Airshow (Avalon) 2025.

The Aviation Operations Manager reports directly to the General Manager Aviation and is assisted by Aviation Ground Training, Operations Support and Administration staff.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the planning and execution of the Aviation Operational elements of the Australian International Airshow (Avalon)
• Develop relevant Airshow/event documentation and plans
• Conduct Airshow operations progress meetings as required

• Procurement of Civilian Professional Performers (Display Acts) in conjunction with the CEO, General Manager Aviation and General Manager Marketing
• Correlation of professional performers display and regulatory documentation for CASA
• Act as primary point of contact for Foreign Military Participation
• Oversee the management of Aircrew Reception
• Manage Aviation Operations staff and internal resources
• Ensure the Aviation Operational elements of the Airshow are delivered on time, within scope and on budget
• Manage the Aviation Operations budget
• Assist the General Manager Aviation in collating and compiling all relevant aviation event documentation
• Develop and maintain relationships with clients and key stakeholders including but not limited to the general public, airport authorities, local councils, emergency services personnel, contractors and regulatory authorities
• Provide strong leadership within the Aviation Operations Department
• Select and manage Aviation volunteers in collaboration with the career Programs and Event Personnel Supervisor
• Represent AMDA as required on the following Avalon Airport Committees: Wildlife Hazard Management Committee, Security and Emergency Management Committee, Noise Abatement Committee
• Prepare periodic reports and updates to the General Manager Aviation as required

• Highly effective people management skills
• Proven ability to manage and provide effective team leadership
• Proven ability to work effectively with others to resolve interpersonal conflicts in a positive way
• Effective verbal communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly and concisely
• Excellent written communication skills
• Strong organisational planning skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a busy work environment
• Relevant experience in the field of aviation (airshow) or complex event (sporting or entertainment) management
• Ability to work effectively under pressure
