The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to be part of an organisation dedicated to nation-building renewable energy projects that will provide on demand energy and large scale storage for many generations to come.
We are seeking an experienced Aviation Safety Manager to be the business leader for aviation risk management. Reporting directly to the HSE Director of Major Projects, the incumbent will be accountable for the oversight of aviation governance, risk, compliance and auditing.
The role will require the completion of an annual risk review of Transgrid's aviation exposure, whilst maintaining risk registers addressing all applicable tasks.
Retaining the services of an external, independent aviation advisory service to provide advice on matters of aviation risk and developing a database of approved service providers and the work carried out.
Additionally, the role will require an individual to demonstrate a strong personal and professional commitment to the maintenance of Transgrid's aviation risk exposure, being viewed by all colleagues and contractors as a business leader within this area.
About You
- Have a background in aviation Safety Management Systems, preferably with applicable qualifications,
- Hold qualifications and experience as a lead auditor, preferably in an aviation environment,
- Have a sound understanding of the aviation regulatory regime as it applies to contracted aviation services,
- Demonstrate an understanding of current aeroplane and helicopter performance, fuel reserves, weight & balance, meteorology and role equipment,
- Understand and apply other applicable legislation as it applies to the general workplace and electrical industry,
- Understand and apply sound risk management of contractors engaging in close proximity works,
- Possess excellent written and oral communication skills,
- Demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain relationships with all internal and external stakeholders,
- Understand the structure and application of aviation contracts,
- Have the ability to decisively assess dynamic situations in a high-pressure operational environment and communicate decisions effectively,
- Understand and apply the CASA safety rules for drones,
- Posses well developed computer skills and knowledge of electronic communication platforms, and
- Hold or be eligible to hold an Aviation Security Identification Card.
