An opportunity currently exists for an experienced Avionics Technician with an AME B2/LAME or equivalent background to join our Melbourne team in production and product development.
This role requires proven track record completing modification projects within the aviation sector. We are seeking an individual who knows the Avionics workmanship standards and is familiar with aircraft avionics installation, and working from Engineering Orders and STC data packs

About the role
Working within our product development and design team, the Avionics Production Engineer is responsible for overseeing the delivery of projects including:
- Completion of all Avionics work related to aircraft modifications and the installation of role equipment. Including building wire looms, pinning, wire marking, terminating, testing, etcetera.
- Assisting design and production teams with component fitment and integration.
- Identifying and ordering required materials and components to complete tasked work.
- Developing and completing work packages to meet approved data.
(including project budget, scoping & quoting, tasking of jobs, delivery and deadline);
- Preparing and checking technical Production Records regarding wire and Avionics installation packages;
- Checking and mark-up of drawings/wiring diagrams generated from CAD platforms (AutoCAD and SolidWorks)
- Achieving project targets within the allocated budget and timeframe through effective time management;
- Ensuring that our customers receive outstanding support;
- Leading and executing larger projects;
- Assisting with mentoring and developing early career Engineers.
We can provide training in the use of drawing and design tools for a suitable candidate and there is the opportunity to develop design skills.
Experience/Qualifications
- Must be an Avionics LAME (B2) or have Cert IV in Aeroskills (Avionics) or equivalent issued by a Registered Training Organisation along with experience in aircraft modifications or aircraft component production. This role is also open to holders of an equivalent foreign or military Avionics licenses.
- Demonstrate knowledge and familiarity with CASA regulations and certification requirements regarding avionics and aircraft modifications
- Familiarity with Civil Aviation Safety Authority Part 21 regulations.
- Experience installing role and COTS equipment in accordance with approved data.
- Recognize and ensure avionics are installed in accordance with standard practices where not otherwise specified.
- Interpretation of drawings and approved data to formulate work plans required to achieve desired outcomes, and experience documenting the completion of work records.
- Project Management experience with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
The role would suite an AME / LAME who is interested in expanding their design experience and / or management experience. Though this role falls under our CASA Production Certificate, there is plenty of opportunity to maintain your license currency by assisting our clients with product installation on aircraft.
