Awards Program Officer (Program Coordinator - Awards And Sponsorship)

Temporary, part-time (21 hours) until June 2027

We have an exciting new opportunity for an Awards Program Officer to join our Communication and Corporate Strategy team. You will be responsible for the delivery of two annual Awards Programs: the Lake Mac Awards and Lake Macquarie Business Excellence Awards. This includes facilitating the award committees and associated judging process, coordinating award events, the nominations process, securing sponsorship and managing program budgets. 

You will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to deliver the award programs with the aim of recognising successful Lake Macquarie community and businesses, which enhances Lake Macquarie City’s profile as a vibrant place to live and work.

The role will also develop a corporate external sponsorship program to ensure any incoming sponsorship packages are consistent and align with Council’s objectives and values.  

This exciting role will:  

• Manage the delivery of the annual Lake Mac Awards and Lake Macquarie Business Excellence Awards within available budget and resources. 
• Facilitate the Lake Mac Awards and Lake Mac Business Excellence Awards Committees and associated judging process. 
• Build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders including Council staff, elected Council, Lake Macquarie community, local businesses and key partners to achieve positive outcomes. 
• Manage finances for the award programs, including securing sponsorship to contribute to the financial sustainability of the Awards Programs. 
• Develop and manage the implementation of communication and marketing plans for the Awards Programs in collaboration with Council’s broader Communications team to drive nominations and awareness of the Awards Program. 
• Lead a corporate external sponsorship program to ensure incoming sponsorship packages are consistent and align with Council’s objectives and values and provide support to Council staff to create sponsorship packages that support the financial sustainability of Council events, programs and initiatives.

LET’S HEAR ABOUT YOU 

• You have a Tertiary qualification in Communications, Event Management, Marketing, Project Management and/or significant equivalent experience at a senior level. 
• You have the natural ability to liaise and build relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders. 
• It is evident through previous work history you have high developed project management and organisational skills 
• Displaying a positive attitude, you can deliver creative outputs and welcome any challenge that comes your way.
• You can effectively prioritise projects and remain focused and calm when managing several tasks, people or tight timeframes.
• Being passionate about working together to meet a common goal, your teamwork skills are second to none.
• You will stand out from the crowd with your experience in a similar position being able to build and maintain collaborative partnerships and sponsorships. 
• You have experience coordinating sponsorship programs, managing sponsors or securing sponsorship
