B2 LAME/AME – Slingshot

Leidos Airborne Solutions Australia provides aerial surveillance services under contract to the Australian Border Force as the largest civil maritime surveillance operation of its kind in the world, and a search-and rescue capability across nearly 10 percent of the earth's surface under Australian Maritime Safety Authority.

This role joins the Cairns Special Mission Engineering team as a B2 AME or LAME reporting to the Senior Base Engineers, for the completion of assigned aircraft maintenance and modifications, for a fixed term 12 month modification program.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Hold Safety as a core value and contribute to the achievement of a Zero Harm and an incident / injury free environment through active participation in all safety programs relevant to the position
• Perform the duties of an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer – Avionics
• Ensure all aircraft maintenance is carried out in line with the Aircraft Maintenance manuals, MOE, procedures manuals and responsible CAMO requirements
• Responsible for the general condition, upkeep of the hangar and workshop
• Compliance to the FRMS and WHSMSM policies and procedures
• Perform any other duties as directed by the SBE/HoM
• Be Responsible for personal tool control and equipment used in maintenance
• Report and defect found during maintenance to certifying engineer
• Carry out aircraft wiring and systems modifications as directed

Essential Criteria

• Australian Citizen
• Willing to relocate to Cairns if not already a resident
• Have sound communication and troubleshooting skills
• Proven ability to work in a team environment
• Demonstrated time management and organisational skills
• Avionics modification experience
• Flexibility to travel at times
• Ability to read and interpret engineering orders for modifications

Desirable Criteria

• Both line maintenance and heavy maintenance experience
• Cert IV Aeroskills – Mechanical
• Dash 8 Experience
• Dash 8 Part 66 type rating 
• Confined space training
• Current first aid Certificate
• Forklift license
