We are looking for a passionate hospitality professional to join the team and help us. We are looking for a qualified baker or 3rd year apprentice baker with a passion for their craft to join our team. Our philosophy is about creating and baking products from scratch daily that taste and look beautiful, honouring traditional recipes, using local and seasonal ingredients. We bake on a small scale to allow us to be as hands on as possible. We pride ourselves on consistently providing a product of excellence
To be successful, you must be able to demonstrate organisational skills and independence along with problem solving and effective communication skills. We look for staff who can show their best under pressure, who are able to follow our established systems and procedures and work well as part of a small team. This position requires you to work across all aspects of our products from laminating our croissant dough to baking all of the morning pastries and breads and assisting in setting up the shop, making choux pastry, decorating with fondant ...etc. We do not use any packaged products or pre-mixes. Job tasks & responsibilities:
- working to a production schedule to prepare all products from scratch
- preparation of ingredients for daily production
- operating mixers and other equipment
- oven work
- dividing and moulding artisan and sweet dough by hand
- finishing of products to a consistently high standard
- general and cleaning duties required
- must be flexible and have a can do attitude
- weekend required
- night shifts required
- be an Australian citizen or have permanent residency
- Working hours vary between10pm and 12pm
Skills & experience :
- experience in artisan baking in a professional food service is not a necessity but an advantage
- an eye for detail with an appreciation for good bread
- strong organisational and time management skills
- excellent food hygiene standards with an understanding of HACCP preferred
- excellent physical fitness
- excellent work ethic, punctual, a great attitude and passionate about your job
