McRae Bar
Named in honour of George McRae, the building’s original architect, McRae Bar, overlooking Loftus Street, redefines the classic hotel lounge by immersing visitors in the glamour of times gone by. A modern rendition of a Victorian-era drinking den, the intimate ground-floor bar offers an elegant cocktail experience with late 1800’s touches, celebrating the first golden age of fine drinking through a contemporary Australian lens.
Position Summary
Being part of a team, the Bar Attendant is an enthusiastic member who is dedicated to providing the highest standard of Capella in the curation of memorable drinking experiences for all guests, a master of their craft. The individual anticipates and provides personalized service towards our guests and is knowledgeable about menu options, beverage lists, and daily specials.
The Role
- Be attentive and anticipate guests' service needs, including creating connections to understand their preferences in order to provide personalized service.
- Greet guests in a friendly and professional manner, take drink orders, and ensure timely service.
- Be knowledgeable of beverage items on the menu and have the ability to recommend menu combinations and upsell alternatives.
- Assist other colleagues to ensure proper coverage and prompt guest service.
- Handle cash and credit card transactions accurately, process payments, and reconcile cash drawer at the end of each shift.
- Recognizes the importance of Forbes standards to deliver excellent service performance.
- Ensures any guest's feedback and complaints are communicated promptly to management.
- Maintains cleanliness of work areas throughout the day, practicing clean-as-you-go procedures.
- Be knowledgeable of and follow appropriate procedures for serving alcohol.
- Uphold a positive attitude and professional appearance at all times, creating a welcoming atmosphere for guests.
- Collaborate with other colleagues from different departments to ensure seamless service and guest satisfaction
- Perform closing duties, including storing all reusable goods, breaking down goods, cleaning all equipment and areas, returning equipment to proper locations, locking refrigerators, restocking items, turning off lights, locking doors, and completing daily cleaning checklist.
Talent Profile
- Prior experience in a similar role/capacity is ideal.
- Good communicator with a personable character and a passion for guest relations management.
- Ability to work a fixed roster from Tuesday to Saturday
- Good command of written and spoken English.
- Valid working rights in Australia.
- Valid Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA).
- Extensive knowledge of cocktails, spirits, and wine.
