An opportunity exists for a full time Barge Operator with water-based pile driving experience and minimum of a Coxswains Grade 3, plus the ability to undertake routine barge maintenance. A recreational boat licence and manual drivers licence is essential.
The majority of installations are in the Gold Coast and south-east Queensland region, however there will be requirements to travel to other locations from time to time.
The principal responsibilities will include:
- Daily hands-on piling and barge activities
- Ensure safety of barge personnel and equipment and compliance with all AMSA regulations and Quality Management System processes and procedures
- Assist with preventative and ad hoc maintenance in a timely manner and appropriately documented
- Waste disposal in a timely and ecologically sound manner.
- Ensure that materials required for barge operations are delivered as ordered and in accordance with vendor delivery docket, stored appropriately and that paperwork is forwarded to the office in a timely manner.
- Ensure that barges are safely secured when not in use and during any severe weather.
Applicants must possess the following attributes:
- Current Coxswains Grade 3 or higher & manual drivers licence
- A willingness to be hands-on
- A good mechanical aptitude, basic welding skills and competent with hand and power tools
- Willing to travel and work away at times
- An understanding of safe work practices
- Strong communication skills and a courteous and professional attitude
- An excellent work ethic, drive and enthusiasm
- The ability to work as part of a team with minimal supervision
