About the role
Ideally commencing in the new year, this role is full time based at our Cairns Head Office supporting base management in overseeing day to day operations. You will be responsible for the ground staff in Cairns but also our other remote ports across the Cape (some travel may be required). An average day will see you monitor the customer check in process, ramp service officers and the mail run. You will be the first point of contact for dealing with any issues that may arise, including handling customer enquiries and feedback. You may either be someone with an aviation background or eager and willing to learn a new industry.
This is a new position assisting base management and supporting our airline's growth; the roster will be based on the flight schedule which will include weekends and public holidays.

What You Will Do
Reporting to the Base Manager, when on shift you will be responsible for
• Providing safe, timely and efficient supervision of day to day base operations including; check in, loading, closing flights and producing flight paperwork per our company procedures listed in our Ground Operations manual
• Assisting with the management of ground staff, including on-the-job-training and feedback on performance
• Assist in reconciliation of staff schedules/rosters and timesheets
• Providing coverage where/when required for ground operation functions.
• Providing training support to Cairns based ground operation roles and provide training to agents in outer ports.
• Coordinating base related contacts liaising with clients and other stakeholders
• Liaising with key stakeholders to ensure aircraft and crew are available for operations
• Monitoring emails, computer and phone, and replying to clients and other company representatives queries
• Management of freight on flights, booking and actioning any changes required as well as communicating changes to clients
• Management of base disruptions and delays on day of ops
• Responsible for the identification and development of new charter business opportunities to ensure all RPT services are promoted within the region
• Responsible for the maintenance of safety related material applicable to base operations
• Ensuring airport security and workplace health and safety regulations are complied with
• Maintaining a register of Aerodrome Reporting Officers (ARO) and contact numbers for those airfields within the base jurisdiction
• Ensuring flight manifests and loading information is available to pilots
• Liaising with Finance and Safety & Quality to ensure that queries are managed in a timely manner
What You Need to Succeed
• Previous experience in the Aviation Industry is highly desirable
• Hold a current manual drivers license (required for an ADA - Airside Driving Authority/ our company vehicle is manual)
• Awareness of the importance in achieving on time performance goals in an efficient and safe manner
• Physically capable to perform loading duties and other manual tasks
• Enthusiasm and willingness to provide exceptional levels of customer service that exceeds customers’ expectations
• Capacity to work independently with minimal direction and collaboratively in a team environment
• The ability to multi-task and manage your time effectively while handling a variety of tasks
• Demonstrate a genuine commitment to safety standards within our company and industry
• Must be willing to work in all weather conditions
• The ability to obtain an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC)
• The ability to obtain an Airside Driving Authority (ADA)
• Conduct compulsory pre-employment and routine drug and alcohol screening for employment purpose
• Must be eligible to live and work in Australia as either a citizen or hold the appropriate visa
