MARS Recruitment are seeking Behaviour Support Practitioners to join innovative and family-centred practice in the Pilbara! Our client is committed to providing multidisciplinary, evidence-based therapy approaches that support the whole child and their family. Their relationship-based practice aims to create meaningful connections and empower individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health challenges

Role overview:

As a Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner, you will play a crucial role in improving the lives of individuals by developing and implementing person-centred, evidence-based positive Behaviour Support plans.

Clinical Duties:

  • Conduct functional behaviour assessments to understand triggers and maintainers of behaviour.
  • Identify current restrictive practices used by NDIS providers, family, carers, teachers, and volunteers.
  • Develop person-centred, evidence-based positive Behaviour Support plans.
  • Deliver tailored support and training on implementing positive Behaviour Support plans.
  • Apply intervention strategies to reduce and/or eliminate restrictive practices.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of positive Behaviour Support plans.
  • Ensure compliance with authorised restrictive practices.
  • Function as a member of a multidisciplinary team.

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Maintain client information in accordance with organisational, professional, and NDIS requirements.
  • Comply with NDIS regulations for behaviour plan submissions.
  • Manage own calendar and client database.
  • Provide guidance for risk assessment and safety planning.

The important stuff:

  • Qualification in Speech Pathology, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, or other relevant tertiary qualification with appropriate registration.
  • Skills and knowledge in planning, implementing, and evaluating Behaviour Support services.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
  • Current Working with Children Check.
  • Current C Class driver's license.
  • Covid-19 Digital Certificate.

Desirable Position Criteria

  • Ability to work in a cross-cultural setting, particularly relating to Aboriginal Health and Culture.
  • Availability to travel across the region when required, including overnight stays. Accommodation & travel funded.
