Key Responsibilities:
- Behavioural Assessment: Conduct thorough behavioural assessments and functional analyses to identify the underlying factors contributing to challenging behaviours in children and teens with disabilities.
- Individualized Support Plans: Develop and implement individualized behaviour support plans that are person-centered, evidence-based, and align with the NDIS guidelines, addressing the specific needs and goals of each child and family.
- Behavioural Interventions: Provide direct intervention and Behavioural Support to children and teens, utilizing positive behaviour support strategies and techniques to promote positive changes and skill development.
- Training and Education: Offer guidance, training, and resources to families, caregivers, and other team members to effectively implement the behaviour support plans and promote a consistent approach in all settings.
- Progress Monitoring and Data Analysis: Regularly collect data to monitor the effectiveness of the behaviour support plans and make data-driven adjustments when necessary, ensuring continuous progress and improvements.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work collaboratively with families, caregivers, therapists, teachers, and other professionals involved in the child's care, fostering a team approach and clear communication channels to optimize outcomes.
- Crisis Management: Be prepared to handle crisis situations calmly and efficiently, using de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention strategies when required.
- Professional Development: Stay up-to-date with the latest research, practices, and advancements in behaviour support and disability services through ongoing professional development.
- Compliance and Reporting: Maintain accurate records and documentation, ensuring compliance with NDIS requirements and reporting on progress and outcomes as necessary.
- Advocacy: Advocate for the rights and needs of children and teens with disabilities, ensuring their voices are heard and respected.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Desirable a degree level qualification.
- Experience in providing behaviour support to children and teens with disabilities.
- Preferably NDIS Accreditation as a Behavioural Therapist.
- Knowledge of NDIS guidelines and requirements related to behaviour support.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
- Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and empathy.
