About the role:
Due to growth across our group, we are seeking an experienced Bid Manager to join our Northern Territory Team.
Reporting to the Estimating & Procurement Manager, the candidate’s primary responsibility is bid management and leading the bid team for allocated tenders (both building & civil).This role ensures that the tenders are developed to a consistently high standard, meeting company expectations.
This will include, but is not limited to:
- Leadership of the bid team
- Management of bids/tenders to ensure they are developed to a consistently high standard
- Employ critical thinking and problem-solving skills to help interpret and respond to bid/tender requirements
- Establish a strong relationship with the pre-contract team to ensure the identified opportunities are understood and pursued
- Devise successful strategies to develop winning bids/tenders, considering the companies operating and profit margins required
- Research, write and/or check all proposals
- Work with the key members of the project team and the client organisations to obtain the information required to compile the bid
- Assess and address the technical and commercial risks relating to ongoing bids
- Oversee the team during the bid process, ensuring internal deadlines are met and bids are submitted on time
About you:
The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, take pride in their work, have attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy. Innovation is as important as ability and we value staff who can think outside of the box and look at problems as challenges and opportunities.
To be successful in the role you will need to have:
- Formal tertiary education in Building Construction or Engineering
- A minimum of 5 years experience within the building or civil construction industry, or related industry experience
- Proven experience leading successful bids/tenders using best practices approaches
- Demonstrated experience managing a team
- Experience in negotiation and client relationship building accompanied with a sound understanding of contract management and cost optimisation
- Defence bid/tending experience desirable
- Competency in administration suite of software (eg. Microsoft professional suite)
