About Our Client:
Our client, located in Woolner Darwin, is one Australia's largest privately owned construction, industrial and environmental services organisations. As a national business, they operate from city centre's through to remote locations, and employ over 900 people Australia-wide. We are currently recruiting a Bid Manager.
About the Role:
- Responsible for the bid management process and leading the bid team for allocated tenders (both building and civil).
- Manage the development of bids/tenders submitted to the clients on behalf of the organisation to ensure a high level of success in being awarded the tender.
- Ensure that the tenders are developed to a consistently high standard, meeting the expectations of the organisation.
Your duties will include but are not limited to:
- Leadership of the bid team.
- Management of bids/tenders to ensure they are developed to a consistently high standard.
- Employ critical thinking and problem-solving skills to help interpret and respond to bid/tender requirements.
- Possess a high degree of attention to detail.
- Establish a strong relationship with the pre-contract team to ensure the identified opportunities are understood and pursued.
- Devise successful strategies to develop winning bids/tenders, considering company operating and profit margins required.
- Research, write and/or check all proposals.
- Work with the key members of the project team and the client organisations to obtain the information required to compile the bid.
- Assess and address the technical and commercial risks relating to ongoing bids.
- Optimise and manage bidding budgets.
- Negotiate with specialist suppliers and/or subcontractors.
- Oversee the team during the bid process, ensuring internal deadlines are met and bids are submitted on time.
- Attend the handover meeting from tendering to delivery if the bid is successful.
- Formal or informal tertiary education in Building Construction or Engineering
- Australian Drivers’ License
- A minimum of 5 years experience in the building or civil construction industry, or related industry experience with a demonstrated success in delivering to financial targets, timeframes, planning and logistics management.
- Proven experience leading successful bids/tenders using best practices approaches.
- Demonstrated experience in managing a team
- Experience in negotiation and client relationship building accompanied with a sound understanding of contract management and cost optimisation.
- Defence bid/tendering experience desirable.
