About the role
Join as a Biosecurity Officer in the South East LLS and contribute to:
- Effective field activities through customer and stakeholder liaison
- Animal health investigations in collaboration with District Veterinarians
- Providing advice on invasive species management to diverse stakeholders
- Regulatory compliance, inspections, and weed control operations
- Supporting operational projects, including biosecurity surveillance and disease investigations
It's a hands-on position requiring a good understanding of pest animal issues, policy adherence, and the ability to handle diverse responsibilities. Adaptability is key, from fieldwork to technology and paperwork. Develop a working knowledge of legislative requirements related to the Biosecurity Act in NSW, supporting the Senior Biosecurity Officer in administration and project planning.
About You
This is a role for someone who has a passion for pest animal control and ideally an agricultural background. You'll be practical, hands-on, be self-motivated and able to use your initiative when required.
To be successful you'll need to have a current NSW Class C Driver License as well as the ability and willingness to travel (including overnight stays) as required.
Ideally you'll have some or all of the following now, however if not you'll need to have the ability and willingness to obtain these as part of your employment in the role:
- The ability to undertake Biosecurity Officer accreditation including a Certificate IV in Government Investigations
- The ability to hold and maintain Authorised Control Officer status under the Biosecurity Act
- Appropriate pesticide application qualifications (minimum AQF3 level)
- The capacity to hold an NSW firearms licence or equivalent, as well as obtain the Statement of Attainment - Use firearms to humanely destroy animals (AQF AHCVPT203A or AHCPMG304)
