This role will see you in taking the lead in the management of invasive weeds on Council managed land with a focus on bushland and wetland natural assets.

You will investigate and assess potential biosecurity risks and then apply appropriate management techniques, liaising with the NSW Department of Primary Industry and other government agencies as needed in relation to weed management and identification. You will support the Biosecurity (Pest Animals) Officers in the management of pest animals and other organisms when required.  You will also manage enquires, provide advice and develop and implement management approaches for invasive weeds.  

This position is required to provide quality customer service and create value for the community.

Key activities of this role include:

  • Undertaking the overall implementation of the Biosecurity Act in relation to weeds within the LGA including the inspection of properties and issuing of notices
  • Develop, implement and review Weed Strategy and Priority Weeds Policy and plans
  • Provide technical assistance regarding chemicals including the safe use of herbicides/ pesticides and general weed identification and control

This role provides a commencing salary range of between $82.9k to $99.5k per annum dependent on skills and experience + 11% superannuation. 

A 9 day fortnight work-cycle currently applies to this role.

Successful candidates may be required to undertake a course of vaccinations against Hepatitis A and B and Tetanus or demonstrate their immunity.
