Pangula Mannamurna Aboriginal Corporation (PMAC) is a Community Controlled Health Organisation located in Mount Gambier providing a comprehensive primary health care service to the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities across the Limestone Coast.
BIRTHING ON COUNTRY PROJECT LEAD
As the Birthing on Country Project Lead you will have the opportunity to review the antenatal, birthing and postnatal care of pregnant women within the region through community and stakeholder engagement striving towards positive change.

Responsibilities
- Facilitate the process for determining the preferred Birthing on Country approaches to be considered for the ongoing 5 year plan.
- Assist with community consultations within the local community including: yarning circles, focus groups, and community events.
- Be a part of the local governance group for the project with Cultural Advisors.
- Advise on, and arrange, the local adaptation of iSistaQuit resources.
- Provide quality antenatal and postnatal care.
- Supervision of Southern Cross University midwifery students.
- Establishing, and maintaining, good working relationships with relevant agencies, both internally and externally, specifically around Midwifery, Nursing and Culture.
- Uphold organisation, employee and client confidentiality and maintain a professional approach in all situations within both the community and the work environment.
Desirables
- Demonstrated experience in engaging with, and understanding of, Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities and individuals.
- Well developed communication and time management skills.
- 3 years experience working within the Midwifery and/or Nursing field.
- Strong advocacy skills.
Requirements
- A Bachelor qualification within either Midwifery or Nursing.
- Out of hours work, and inter/intra state travel.
- Attendance at training sessions on and off site.
- Current full Drivers Licence.
- Current National Police Clearance and DHS Working With Children Check.
