We are currently seeking Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified Registered Nurses who are looking for an exciting career opportunity within the Blood Transplant & Cellular Therapies (BTCT) team, in the Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) grade 1 position at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead. This is a permanent full time position.The BTCT CNC1 will work collaboratively with the BTCT team, supported by the wider senior oncology nursing, allied and oncology teams.The BTCT CNC1 works within a multidisciplinary team providing expert clinical advice, care management and specialist consultancy service to BTCT patients, their carers and other health professionals both internal and external to Oncology Services. 


The CNC1, in consultation with other team members develops, implements and evaluates care management plans for BTCT patients and provides leadership that facilitates the ongoing development of paediatric oncology practice. Within the role, the CNC1 initiates and utilises findings of research in the provision of clinical services, contributes to the development and delivery of oncology related education programs and participates in formal processes for the strategic and operational planning for the team and the wider Oncology Service. The BTCT CNC1 supports the Apheresis component to BTCT service.The Team Based Model of Care approach will ensure a coordinated multidisciplinary approach to care, whilst facilitating effective and efficient communication between all team members. The CNC1 will actively participate in all clinical meetings, including the weekly MDT meeting, Quality meetings, Departmental and Team Based meetings.

What you'll be doing 
The Clinical/ Midwifery Nurse Consultant will provide expert clinical care and education to children and their families within a defined specialty.  
The role provides a consultancy and educational focus for ward based nurses in the care of children and their families.
 
In collaboration and consultation with key stakeholders, the Clinical Nurse Consultant will undertake primary responsibility for on-going education, development and evaluation of clinical practice.  

 
 Additional information:

An eligibility list may be created for future permanent full or part time and temporary full or part time vacancies. 

  1. Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a minimum of 5 years full time post qualification experience.

  2. Relevant approved post registration qualification in field of practice or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the public hospital or public health organisation

  3. Proven clinical leadership skills and ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in nursing practice

  4. Demonstrated high level communication and inter- personal skills

  5. Demonstrated participation in the development of clinical practice underpinned by evidence based research

  6. Demonstrated ability to contribute to strategic and clinical service planning

  7. Proven skills in clinical teaching, the identification of education needs in the clinical area, competency in the use of contemporary information systems

  8. Ability to apply clinical expertise in consultancy with children and families, with the ability to work independently
