Our client Queensland Hydro was established by the Queensland Government to deliver long-duration pumped hydro energy storage projects so we can transition to a stable renewable energy future.
Pumped hydro energy storage has a critical role in helping to meet the Queensland Government’s renewable energy targets and Australia’s Towards Net Zero goals by 2050. Queensland Hydro’s proposed pumped hydro energy storage projects can deliver the ultimate assurance for the State’s energy transition and play a defining role in securing a stable transition to renewable energy.
We are seeking a Board and Governance Advisor who will provide wide ranging support to the Company Secretary, Board Secretariat and the Governance and Executive.
Key responsibilities include:
Company Secretary Support
- Ensuring the Board and committee meetings are properly called and held;
- Preparation of Board and committee agendas in a timely manner in collaboration with the CEO, General Counsel, Company Secretary and Chair;
- Support the Company Secretary and Board Secretariat with coordination, drafting and review of board papers;
- Manage the board paper portal, Diligent and ensuring materials are up to date and available for directors;
- Management of lodgements with ASIC in a timely manner;
- Maintain register of directors’ interests and other corporate registers;
- Drive process improvements and efficiencies in the company secretariat function;
- Reviews and coordinates letters and other documents, including reports and briefing papers initiated for signature by the Executive Leadership Team (ELT);
- Regular review and updating of board governance documents;
- Reviewing, updating and maintaining best practice for all governance policies, procedures and registers;
- Manage the document execution register and accurate records are maintained;
- Ensure effective document and records management across the company secretary, board secretariat, governance and executive correspondence functions; and
- Understand and comply with OHS policies, procedures and legislative requirements relevant to the position.
The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years experience in supporting a board in a Board Secretary/governance function. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels. Other helpful attributes will be the ability to manage conflicting deadlines, demonstrating sound judgement to effectively prioritise workload.
