The Economic Development and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2024 (the Bill) was introduced to Parliament on 20 March 2024 to amend the Act under which EDQ functions. It is intended that the legislative process will be complete with the amended Act coming into force on 1 July 2024. The amendments to the Act seek to strengthen EDQ’s remit in relation to housing delivery with a particular focus on social, affordable and diverse housing at scale across the State in response to the current housing challenges impacting Queensland.
