Position Description
As a Tesla Body Regional Technical Specialist, you'll work within our Body Repair technical organization to drive Tesla's exceptional service standards and provide technical support to Tesla Body Repair Centres and Tesla Approved Body Repairers. This role is the key connection point between our field teams and engineering. Your responsibility will be leading accurate diagnosis of escalated cases across multiple locations in Australia and New Zealand, with the goal of quicker repair times, keeping vehicles on road, whilst improving service capabilities and customer satisfaction.
A strong technical background in diagnosing complex Body Repairs from paint, panel, mechanical and electromechanical systems with usage of the appropriate in house and external systems. This Regional Technical Specialist must be passionate about problem solving, diagnostics, must be a strong critical thinker with great fluency in understanding technical system-level architecture and issues. This role will require regular travel at short notice supporting issues within the field.

Responsibilities
- Provide on-site diagnostic support for locations within allocated region
- Support Body Technicians remotely with diagnostic and troubleshooting techniques via the correct escalation paths
- Identify quality concerns, generating a continuous feedback loop of issues identified in the field
- Collaborate with regional Field and Product Support Engineers in root cause analysis
- Provide operational feedback for service procedures, knowledgebase improvements and diagnostic tooling/applications
- Utilize reports and metrics to spot trends and areas for technical development within Body Repair
- Provide on-site coaching and mentoring of Lead and Master Technicians focusing on diagnostic principles and service procedures under the guidance of Tesla Academy
- Provide frequent documentation of work for reporting purposes via a ticketing system
- Host technical operation regular meetings and reporting
- Regular travel required to support, monitor and report on new/trending/critical or region-specific concerns
Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience
- Diploma or greater in Body Repair as a Senior or Master certified OEM technician, diagnostics, or field support engineer
- Experience with complex automotive paint, body, mechanical and electromechanical systems, preferably including electric vehicles
- Skilled with common workplace and database software (MS Word, Excel, Visio, Access, etc)
- Valid driver’s license
- Demonstrated experience in Paint and Body repairs dealing with complex situations.
- EV or Hybrid Experience a bonus
- Possess a rare combination of analytical thinking, hands-on problem solving, and a customer-service mindset
- Availability for occasional off-hours work and meetings
