This is a residential job based in Kalgoorlie. Do not apply if you want FIFO work.
Overall responsibility is to manage boilermaker / fabrication operations in the workshop and co-ordinate site works to complete jobs:
- safely;
- efficiently (meet quoted targets); and
- to meet or exceed customer quality and time expectations.
You will have extensive boilermaking and fabrication knowledge and it is most likely you will have a metal fabrication trade background. However, your qualifications could be in mechanical fitting.
Delivering on your responsibilities will require you to:
- estimate and quote for potential jobs/contracts.
- read & interpret technical drawings.
- plan & manage jobs – think ahead to ensure all resources are available to maintain an efficient work flow.
- create a safe workshop environment and promote safe work practises.
- provide leadership to the workshop employees including regular feedback & coaching.
- maintain a team culture in the workshop.
- communicate with customers to understand their needs, problem solve and manage expectations.
- ensure all plant and equipment is properly serviced and maintained.
- manage stock levels.
- identify and implement improvements to work processes and the workshop environment.
Applicants must have:
- strong communication skills
- current driver’s license
- extensive boilermaker experience in heavy mobile equipment and general fabrication.
- good mechanical aptitude.
- basic computer skills.
- effective people and communication skills to win the respect of customers and tradesmen. Must be able to encourage excellent performance and manage poor performance.
- ability to learn and implement new knowledge.
