About Newcastle Meals on Wheels
At Newcastle Wheels Meals on Wheels, we have supported elderly people in our local communities for over 60 years with nutritional nourishment and a network of supporting volunteers. At the heart of our organisation is a mission to work in our local communities with ageing Australians, supporting them to live independently in their homes where they want to be.
The Role
The role is available located in Newcastle, supporting our Branches by providing relief support over Monday, Wednesday and Fridays every week. You will be responsible for the day to day operations of the branch that you are rostered to, including volunteer coordination, effective administration and customer service.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Being the first point of contact for all clients, visitors and incoming calls
- Provide customer service including acceptance of referrals, taking meal orders and providing intake information and support
- Coordination of volunteers to allow for smooth operation of the Branch including meal preparation and distribution
- Assist with volunteer recruitment, onboarding and orientation
- Accounts receivable to ensure that outstanding accounts are monitored and in line with payment terms and debt recovery steps
- Adhering to Food Safety Standards
- Undertaking general administrative duties, record keeping, managing correspondence and general office management
To be successful in the role, you will have high attention to detail, exceptional organisational skills and will thrive on wearing many hats. Along with a current Drivers License, you will be expected to complete a National Police Check, Food Safety Certificate and Worker Screening Check. Knowledge of Commonwealth Home Support Program, NDIS and/or HCP Support would be highly regarded.
Ideally you will also have:
- Strong customer service experience
- Strong computer skills with a solid understanding of Microsoft Office and confidence in learning new systems
- The ability to work unsupervised and be able to grasp concepts quickly
- Relevant skills to communicate and roster volunteers
- A natural problems solver
The hours will be 22 hours per week over 3 days (Monday, Wednesday and Friday). Your core hours being 7am to 2pm.
