Newstead Bakery is a highly acclaimed wholesale bakery, located in Albion, Brisbane. We make a range of hand-shaped sourdoughs, baguettes, croissants and more.
Due to the expansion of the wholesale side of the business are looking for an experienced full-time baker to work within a small team of professionals.
You will be working in a large air-conditioned bakery, which is furnished with the best equipment and facilities.
We have government approval to employ overseas applicants through sponsorship for highly qualified Bread Bakerswith specific experience in sourdough, high hydration, slow ferment bread products.
Qualifications & experience
- Min. 2 years full-time experience in a similar role
- Consistency, flare for sourdough and other specialty bread making
- A desire to work with high quality ingredients
- Above average workplace speed and accuracy
- The ability to work unsupervised and also within a close knit team
- Night shifts and weekend work applies
- Experience with hand moulding doughs with high hydration
Tasks & responsibilities
- Make high hydration, slow ferment sourdough
- Make baguettes, dark rye, ciabatta and other breads
- Create seasonally appropriate/specialty bread products in conjunction with the Head Baker
- Make viennoisserie - croissants, danish, pastries etc on occasion
- Help the team with the production of sweet and savoury items
