Breakfast Chef - Fifo (Ex Perth) - 2/2 Roster

Northern Rise is a leading resources industry village - hospitality and food services provider. Established in 2013, we operate villages in remote Western Australia and the Northern Territory. 

We have a very rare opportunity for an experienced and passionate Breakfast Chef to join our kitchen on our small mine-site village located in the Pilbara region of WA, located approximately 3 hours’ drive from Port Hedland airport!

Responsibilities, include but are not limited to the following:

• Providing breakfast / crib lunch service for approximately 100 residents with a focus on “healthy meal choices” and a shift away from the standard FIFO food selection
• Possess a creative flare and be able to provide a variety of daily specials (minimum 1 hot and 2 cold) such as chia bowls, tapioca coconut bowls, smoothies etc.
• Be able to prepare fresh bakery options such as savoury and sweet muffins, daily fresh bread selection, cookies, slices and cakes
• Assist in stock takes
• Prepare BBQ packs 
• Assist in function preparation such as birthday cakes, desserts etc.
• Have a keen eye for detail with a focus on food presentation and garnishing
• Maintain minimal food wastage
• Maintain a high standard of cleaning processes 
• Most of all, be passionate about what you do and being in the role – you will be part of an amazing team and will work closely with the head chef

Skills, qualifications and experience required: 

• Minimum 2 years' work experience on a remote mine-site village 
• Bulk catering experience 
• Ability to keep to a budget and keep accurate records
• Good time management and communication skills 
• Understanding of Food Safety principals and the HACCP methodology 
• Cookery qualifications - minimum (or equivalent) Certificate III in Commercial Cookery 
• Australian Driver’s Licence
• National Police Clearance - not more than 6 months' old 
• Full Australian work rights 
• To be able to pass a pre-employment medical and drug screening

Point of hire is Perth.  Ideally the successful candidate will be available to commence end of December 2023.
