We are seeking a skilled and experienced Bricklayer to join our team.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Analyse landscape plans, dimensions and specific requirements for brickworks in fencing projects to ensure compatibility with overall design and structural integrity.
- Determine the necessary materials, measurements and installation methods by interpreting specifications and work orders, ensuring seamless integration.
- Inspect the alignment of brick structures supporting fences, ensuring they are accurate on all sides by calculating angles and using tools such as levels and plumb lines.
- Break or cut stones and blocks to appropriate sizes and shapes using hand or power tools, ensuring they fit perfectly within the fencing layout and design.
- Place bricks in line according to mould and layout design, filling expansion joints with suitable filling materials like mortar to enhance stability and durability.
- Stack or bind bricks or blocks and integrate them with mortar, eliminating excess mortar with trowels and other hand tools to achieve a clean and professional finish.
- Build scaffolding to work safely at various heights, as required for constructing fence pillars and other elevated brick structures, and dismantle it after use.
- Fix and preserve clay bricks, cement blocks and other masonry structures that are part of or support the fencing, addressing any damage or wear.
- Apply sealer to damp-resistant bases of brick structures to secure them firmly, protecting the brickwork from environmental damage and ensuring long-lasting quality.
- Mix mortar or grout to the appropriate consistency and spread it onto slabs or foundations, ensuring a strong bond between materials.
- Lay bricks using mortar as a binder and a trowel to level, ensuring each brick is positioned correctly to support and enhance the fencing installation.
- Clean up work areas after project completion, disposing of debris and leftover materials properly to maintain a tidy and professional worksite.
- Implement safety measures to protect both workers and the public during construction, especially around residential and commercial properties.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Certificate III in Bricklaying or other relevant certifications
- Proven experience as a Bricklayer or similar role in construction
- Proficient in bricklaying techniques and tools
- Strong understanding of construction and masonry materials
- Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications
- Excellent physical condition and stamina
Salary:
The role offers a remuneration package ranging from $70,000 - $80,000; plus superannuation for a 38-hour work week.
