AddressBuilding & Facilities Lead
Are you an experienced project manager who is readily able to balance operational and heritage constraints? Do you enjoy the challenge of determining appropriate building techniques and maintenance solutions? We are looking for a dedicated and collaborative Building & Facilities Lead who can manage the ongoing development of strategic asset management and take pride in the management of maintenance across our treasured sites and properties. You will be leading a specialised and professional team that supports MHNSW to achieve its goals.
What the opportunity is:
- Employment with Museums of History NSW.
- Clerk Grade 9/10. Remuneration package includes salary ($120,859 - $133,183), employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.
- Full-time ongoing employment.
- The role will work across Sydney.
What we do
MHNSW brings together the museums, historic houses and associated collections previously in the care of Sydney Living Museums with the vast collection of more than 13 million items held by the former NSW State Archives. This includes one of the world’s most complete and important collections documenting colonisation.
What you’ll do with us
This role will manage the planning, prioritisation and implementation of planned and reactive building and facilities maintenance across all MHNSW properties to ensure building standards, specifications, heritage requirements, security and workplace health and safety standards are met at each site.

What you need to do to apply
To apply you will need to submit the following:
- A one to two page cover letter outlining how your skills and experiences meet the essential requirements for this role,

What you need to tell us - Targeted questions:
- Describe a time when you have managed a team in a high-pressure, high-volume work environment. How did you ensure collaboration within the team to maintain deadlines?
- Please outline your experience in managing multiple site and service discipline Maintenance Contracts projects. What were the key challenges you faced in creating and managing the maintenance contracts? What were the outcomes?
Essential requirements of the role
- Tertiary qualifications in building trades/building maintenance or commensurate experience.
- Formal training in Asset Management.
- Extensive working knowledge of mechanical and electrical building services.
- Extensive working knowledge and training in workplace health and safety, building codes, electrical, mechanical, water, hydraulic and security systems.
- Experience in managing Mini Minor Works and MW21 Contracts from BuyNSW.
- Experience working in heritage or museum organisations with an understanding of heritage buildings and museum environments.
- Extensive experience managing maintenance contracts.
- Current NSW driver’s licence.
- A medical assessment is required for this role consisting of a general health check, hearing and if required a spirometry test.
- Willingness to work across and ability to travel to multiple work locations.
