Knox City Council is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Building Inspector to join our Building Services team at Knox City Council.
You will work closely with an energetic and positive team of Building professionals, and the wider City Planning and Building department in delivering a range of Building services to the Knox municipality and contribute to achieving a safe and sustainable built environment. This varied role will see you interacting with the community and industry, making a difference daily to the residents, businesses and developers within Knox.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Providing specialist advice and make recommendations associated with building related enquiries, in accordance with relevant legislation.
- Assist in the application and enforcement of building legislation and controls as it affects the City of Knox, in an effective and efficient manner which promotes high quality development.
- Carry out Building Permit inspections, Essential Safety Measure Audits, Pool Safety Inspections and liaise with owners and their representatives
- Contribute to and deliver process improvement projects and initiatives which comply with legislative requirements with respect to the relevant Acts, Schemes, regulations and policies
Remuneration will depend on the Qualification and Registrations of the preferred candidate.
Building Inspector - Unlimited will be remunerated a Band 7 classified role, remuneration will be $104,630 - $117,345 (depending on experience) plus superannuation in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee.
Building Inspector - Limited will be remunerated a Band 6 classified role, remuneration will be $92,933 - $101,496 (depending on experience) plus superannuation in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee.
*Knox will provide support and assistance to the preferred candidate in gaining their BI-U qualifications and registration.
What you will need to thrive
The key selection criteria for this role are:
- Registration as Building Inspector Limited OR Unlimited, combined with tertiary qualification in a related field.
- Extensive knowledge of the Building Act 1993 and Building Regulations 2018 and an ability to interpret and apply the legislation.
- Well-developed interpersonal and negotiation skills with an ability to liaise with customers, council officers and stakeholders.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on providing customer focused outcomes.
- Previous experience in the Local Government sector desired, but not essential.
- Current Drivers License.
