The Building Department are looking for a highly motivated and adaptable person who is passionate about their career in building surveying and particularly within compliance and the built environment.
Joining a small, supportive and engaging team, the Building Technical Officer will provide advice and assistance to a diverse community of stakeholders across multiple facets of the building industry and community. Working closely with the Municipal Building Surveyor, you will be responsible for undertaking a broad range of functions including:
- Assistance with maintaining an effective and efficient swimming pool register,
- Processing and assessment of building applications for building permits and report and consents, issuing approval documentation and related tasks,
- Assistance with building enforcement,
- Site-based work/inspections,
- Providing technical advice and related requests and tasks.
Your attention to detail and ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders will allow you to meet various deadlines and provide effective support across the department with regards to council’s Municipal Building Surveying functions, Council generally and within the community.
This great opportunity is suited for someone who has a good understanding of building legislation, has obtained a qualification in building surveying (or is close to obtaining) or a related construction-based profession and/or a person with some relevant experience working in the building industry who is looking to further develop their skills on the path to becoming a registered building practitioner.
