Bushland Field Officer – Biodiversity
- Salary $56,748.34 to $65,809.54 p/a + super
- 38hr week - 9 day fortnight
- Undertake work associated with the conservation and maintenance of Council’s natural environment and bushland
About Ku-ring-gai Council
Located 16 km’s north of the Sydney CBD, the Ku-ring-gai area covers 84km2, is home to 124,000 residents and set in one of New South Wales’ most attractive natural environments.
Reporting to the Team Leader, your duties will include, but are not limited to:
Participate in a constructive manner to the delivery of Council’s approved bush regeneration and pest species operational works program including:
- Bush regeneration
- Weed mapping
- Tree planting
- Weed control
- Tree removal
- Nursery work
- Seed collection
- Feral animal control
Where required undertake other bushland operational works including, but not limited to asset protection zone, walking track and fire trail construction and maintenance, bushland educational activities, bushfire hazard reduction burning operations and emergency response to severe storm/weather events.
Required experience & skills:
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications, or equivalent experience, in natural area and bushland maintenance
- Appropriate qualification relevant to Public Safety (Firefighting Operations), Crew member equivalent (For example, NSW Rural Fire Service or NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service Crew Member qualification) or willingness to undertake training to obtain certificate
- Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to undertake training to obtain certificate
- Current C class Driver’s licence
- Current White Card Certificate or willingness to undertake training to obtain certificate
- AQF3 Chemical Handling certificate or willingness to undertake training to obtain certificate
- Chainsaw operator’s certificate or willingness to undertake training to obtain certificate
- Demonstrated experience in bush regeneration
